Review of "Star Wars: Aftermath: Empire's End" on 'Goodreads'
5 stars
I thought this was really very good! I was a little frustrated at first that it didn't deal much with the characters we care about from the original trilogy (although Mon Mothma, Wedge, and Ackbar are in it, and we get to see Greg Grunberg's character from The Force Awakens as a nerdy teen rebel). But these characters won me over and I honestly can't wait to read more about them. I loved the way it explored the changing situation in the galaxy as the empire crumbled, and I LOVED LOVED LOVED the inclusion of several minor characters in same-sex relationships and one major gay protagonist. This is a breath of fresh air after the old EU which had very nearly no LGBT characters to speak of. There's an odd bit with Han and Chewie that I guess is setting them up for a major role in the next book, …
