Review of 'Of Dice and Men: The Story of Dungeons & Dragons and The People Who Play It' on 'Goodreads'

Written with those unfamiliar with D&D in mind, this book attempts to explain the attraction of the game through a combination of the author's personal story of getting back into the game after years away from it, and an exploration of the history of of the game's development.

Although less comprehensive than the history given in Designers & Dragons, it has a major advantage over that work in that the author actually cites his sources.

I'm not sure how well this book would go over with someone unfamiliar with D&D, but I found it an entertaining read.

Review of 'Of Dice and Men: The Story of Dungeons & Dragons and The People Who Play It' on 'Goodreads'

Fun! Those who find the appeal of this game hard to understand should come away with at least the beginnings of an understanding; those who already love the game should find its history fascinating. Well written, too.
