“Conspiracy theories…they fall apart because they imagine this dark room where everything is spoken aloud. But in my experience, it hardly ever works that way. You just do what you’re supposed to do. You don’t have to be told. Cover-ups happen in glances and silences. In people acting the way they were born to act. Most people who facilitate things like this hate themselves for doing it—and they think that makes it okay. Like it’s not really them who is doing it.”
