Goodreads Review of the Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte

Basically, this is the gold standard of what a Marxist analysis of history looks like. It's ground-zero, and it's worth reading for that purpose. Unfortunately, it's also boring as hell.

Review of 'The 18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte' on 'Goodreads'

This was really hard going. If I didn’t already know something about the French revolution I wouldn’t have understood a word - which is too bad because a lot of what he had to say about the aftermath of the revolution applied to various things we see happening now in this country (and the capitalist west generally). I wish I’d been in a better place mentally to cope with Marx. Maybe I’ll try rereading it some time in future.
