Marsha Woerner reviewed Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert (Hart classics)
Review of 'Madame Bovary' on 'Goodreads'

Of course, I had long heard of this book and knew that it was supposed to be a racey example of classic literature. I had also heard that racey in those days was nothing like racey nowadays. Mme. Bovary was truly quite a woman, nothing made her happy. Yes, she was an adulterous in the worst sense, but more than that, no man or any kind of person court have satisfied her, and sexuality had nothing to do with it. I found it a very, very, sad book.
