I wanted to like it as much as I loved Power to Yield

So I picked this up after finishing Bogi Takács' more recent short story collection, Power To Yield. Between the two I would recommend Power to Yield (5 stars) over this one.
I tend not to like short stories as a genre - I like to immerse myself and struggle with mentally switching from one task or context to another. I read this as part of the Intersex Book Club.
As far as short story collections go, this one is solid. The ideas are novel. But the collection lacks coherency - the stories felt so disconnected and lacked themes between them to really tie them together. Here and there I noticed the germ of an idea or theme that felt fully cooked in Power to Yield.
