I've got a love-hate on for this book. I'm so over cliff-hanger endings. It's cheap and unfair. And while its purpose is to make me want to read the next book, it more often than not poisons me against the story. I'll look for spoilers, answer my questions, and not read even a single page of the sequel.
What happened to the days when people would write a book that was just so good it'd make you want to read the next one? Where you loved the characters and the world so much you had to dive into it over and over again.
I don't mind a lead-in to a second book. A little heads up that I will want to keep my eye out for it. But stopping a story in the middle to ensnare me into reading the next one is a low-blow. And authors should know better. …

I loved this book, the story, the characters. I wish it was longer, delving into things a little more. But part of that is probably because it was such a page turner that I just kept reading as fast as I could to find out what happened.
Until that very last page. When... instead of more story, I got the end of the book. I got robbed.
It's not fair, and authors need to stop doing it immediately.
