Sometimes, death can feel like the only escape.

It's been a year since Alex stopped living. He exists. He breathes. He pretends to be like everyone else. But, he doesn't live. Burdened by memories, he dreams of the day when he can finally be free. I feel the psychological state of Alex was handled well in this story. I'm not a psychologist nor have I ever been suicidal or through something remotely at this level of traumatic- so it's not an expert opinion or anything. However, as someone who has had a number of friends in bad places and dealing with trauma this read rather true to me
Both MCs were well thought out and not generic in any way. The timeline leading up to the trauma had my heartrate accelerating-and I read a lot of murder and suspense books. Sometimes when a book is split between two storylines (that converge) one is stronger than the other, but I enjoyed both equally.
Honestly, I enjoyed all aspects of this story and actually wish the book was longer.
