Solid Short Read

At 117 pages and with simple language, this book is a really quick read. It has themes of trauma, family, ecology, and of course cosmic horror. I've been drawn to this genre after reading Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer and this one hits a similar mark for me. I think some of the cosmic horror elements could be worked a little more throughout, but overall a good fun story.

Okay, but this was so good?! Like, it feels familiar. I thought I knew where it was going and what the outcome would be, and this story toed the line of my expectations just long enough to completely blow me away at the end.

Also, the narration was fantastic. I had basically no knowledge or expectations for this novella and was very pleasantly surprised!

Wild Spaces tackles the monsters we inherit from our families and what it means to face the horrors of our lineage head on. This novella is succinct and achingly beautiful, and I recommend it to anyone seeking a horror-infused novella that will suck you in and wrap its tentacles around your heart.

Thank you to Tordotcom and NetGalley for the ARC.
