World-leading coffee expert and best-selling author of The World Atlas of Coffee shows you how to make barista-level coffee at home

We all expect to be able to buy an excellent cup of coffee from the many brilliant coffee shops available. But what about the coffee we make at home? Shouldn't that be just as good?

James Hoffmann is an entrepreneur and the international name in coffee, combining expert-level knowledge with a wonderful ability to communicate it. James runs Square Mile Coffee, as well as creating extremely informative, and popular, coffee and equipment reviews for his YouTube and Instagram channels. In his latest book he demonstrates everything you need to know to make consistently excellent coffee at home, including: what equipment is worth buying, and what isn't; how to grind coffee; the basics of brewing for all major equipment (cafetiere, aeropress, stovetop etc); understanding coffee drinks, from the cortado to …

A broad introduction into being a weird coffee person

The world of coffee is very confusing for beginners. In this book James Hoffmann provides a broad introduction into enjoying coffee in its various different forms. Sometimes I wished some aspects had more depth, but I guess that wasn’t the point of this book. Also, as someone who watched a lot of his YouTube Videos, I did not learn anything new. Therefore advanced coffee nerds don’t really need this book.

But it’s a great book for someone who wants to start their journey into making delicious coffee.

A great jumping off point

Everything you ever wanted to know about how to brew better coffee at home. Lots of explanations, plenty of brew methods and a deeper dive around espresso. I feel far more informed about how to brew different types of coffee at home now. Plus I'm now tooled up to start experimenting with the methods I currently brew with, based to the brew guides and information contained within.

Very helpful, very detailed, lots of background

Unless you have seen all his videos on youtube (or don't like coffee at all, you freak!), you need this book. On all kinds of coffee - from french press, filter to espresso and all its variants with mild - James Hoffmann has thought about it, tried a lot of stuff and generated recipes for you to follow and make better coffee.
