Review of 'the absolutely true diary of a part-time indian' on 'Goodreads'

A wonderfully insightful and racially-charged read about the importance of America's cultural history, landscape, and how one awkward teenager can fit into it all.
Budding cartoonist Junior leaves his troubled school on the Spokane Indian Reservation to attend an all-white farm town school where the only other Indian is the school mascot.

I almost gave up on finding any new fiction that I actually liked, but it turned out Alexie wrote another book. Easy read. Loveable picaresque main character. Moments of hilarity. Lots of tragedy. Social commentary that isn't shoved down your throat. Tho I feel they are going to make a really cheesy, uplifting movie based on it some day and then I reserve the right to hate it.
Superb coming of age book. Would recommend to any teenager and twice that many adults.
