I Got a Monster

This book reads like Michael Bay doing the Wire. However, it's all the true story of baltimore's g un trace task force, which became nationally known for planting drugs and stealing them from witness, citizens and more.

some insane things in this book

• One of the cops who was assign from the tasks force was arrested for stealing bitcoin during the silk road investigation
• There's a BPD comiss named Anthony Barksdale
• A cop was immortalized by a diss track that eventually led to his proesecution
• the trump administration case started with "overtime fraud"

I would have loved more about how compstat encouraged the growth of the monster but this book is horrifying and highly readable

A little hard to follow at times and has way too much Ivan Bates, but a valuable look into the everyday abuse that cops get away with because so many look the other way or collaborate. And for what? Even the instigators didn't much want to be there.
