Imajica

About 20% into this book, I nearly gave up. I have never been so glad to have not left a book and pushed through. This is one of those magical books that take you on a journey into such an amazing world and I'm so glad that I gave it a second chance.
I went into it having not read anything by Clive Barker, but being a big fan of the Hellraiser series I was hoping for major horror. This isn't what I got, but the book was still very strange, incredibly imaginative, and immensely memorable.
It was not what I expected going in, but I can't think of a better book to have shared four months of quarantine with.

This is the book that made me fall in love with Barker. I will admit, however, that the last time I tried to read it a bit of the glamour was gone. It's a wonderful story filled with creative races and some of the more freeform creation that I have ever read. The way in which Pie-O-Pah travels between the worlds still fills me with wonder. The book does get a bit long, however, and that was the main problem I had the last time I tried to read it. If you like androgyny then this is an amazing work which deals with the perception of beauty as well as the perception of freedom and faith.
