Definitely recommend this book highly. Carrot is like the Kerouac of a different generation, except generally much more likeable and authentic. This is a great counter narrative to the idea that crusty train hoppers are just taking a vacation free of charge while sitting on their trust fund nest eggs. It is a glimpse into a subculture that was formed around solidarity in the difficult realities of a hard life. It is an attempt at carving freedom from of the harsh stoic face of conservative AmeriKKKa.
