Oh heavens, this book chills me. I read it and at times it confuses me and makes me want to scream how the hell the world got in such a way, and I wanted Guy to wake up and do something about it. Yes, he learns more, but I have to remind myself to slow down and soak in the world, to read the hateful hateful words of his boss, Beatty, and others who know more about Guy.

Amazing work of dystopia, looking all happy and pretty in the home, but the world outside is cruel. I cringed when I read the bits about teenagers racing around and beating each other up and killing each other. Horrible stuff, and when Guy has had enough at one point and tells off his wife's empty-headed friends, I was doing a happy dance for him, even though it would create more problems.

It's a frightening world that's depicted, because it isn't just books, it's about thought going extinct as well...and that scares me. Will be kept forever.
