A great disappointment. I love some of his other work. I give three stars because of the material about the flight and the flying boat, the characters, plot and narrative I felt were not worthy of his ability.
Hooray for a book that actually uses some maps and photographs to enable the reader to visualise what was happening. A shame that all the manoeuvring prior to the battle lacks maps entirely. It would have also been useful to get a picture of the actual troops - and their weapons and tactics. It’s a very transitional period of war technology and this whole area is just skipped over.
