With Equal Rites, Pratchett introduces us to a second set of magic users in the Discworld and we meet Granny Weatherwax. Brimming with pragmatism, Granny finds herself training Esk, the Discworld’s first female wizard.
Equali Rites has the same irreverent tone and commentary on our world, but the writing feels more careful and deliberate as he feels his way into the female centred world of witches.
