Through the first few chapters, Liking it so far. The main character's language is more formal than I generally prefer, but it's period, so it works, and that's not really a criticism just an observation.
I'm listening to the audiobook, which is my preference these days, and I am enjoying the first narrator so far.

Around 40% mark. Velasin is an interesting character. As he slowly sloughs off the homophobia of his former culture you see him begin to brighten. Which is as much an education for Cae as it is anything else. The way Cae feels so protective of his new husband is sweet and hot. Cae wanting to be able to speak with Markle directly is also one of the sweeter moments.
I disagree strongly with reviewers who claim these two countries are set up as black and white. The book is never so careless, it's just the downsides to Ralia are pretty bad, especially for a gay man.
