Through the first few chapters, Liking it so far. The main character's language is more formal than I generally prefer, but it's period, so it works, and that's not really a criticism just an observation.

I'm listening to the audiobook, which is my preference these days, and I am enjoying the first narrator so far.

@Llaverac What makes Ox so amazing? He reaches Joe when absolutely nobody else could, without even trying. Joe, and by extension, the Bennet Pack, might not have ever recovered without Ox. If my 10 year old with PTSD suddenly makes a huge leap in recovery just by meeting this guy, yeah, I'd think that kid was awesome. Especially if I had the senses to detect if he had fishy intentions with my kid. It would be reasonable for Ox to have told Joe to go away that first day. Most 16 year olds wouldn't have that sort of patience. My dog, when he was a pup had a fit because he wanted to meet my neighbor. He basically adopted her on the spot. Love this book! The age difference between Joe and Ox had me a little cringed when they first met. But it was handled well. I'm around 30% into the book, but it's due back at the library, so this has to go on pause for a few months until I get it back.

Coming Back to This One!

I grabbed this audiobook from the library and got a wee bit lost because some of the nouns are hard to hear. Loved it, though. Just ran out of time on my library loan. Already have a hold so I can come back. I may start over from the beginning because I think I missed a few things along the way.

Ended up giving up on this one. The main character was too low self esteem and the best friends seemed very two dimensional. As if they only exist to help the main character with his love life and otherwise don't seem to do much of anything else.
