Both a recounting of trauma and its impacts, as well as a retelling of a Nigerian fable. The main character's …
Near future dystopia (hopefully, prospects don't look to good right now in real live either) Starts 2024. Main themes are surviving and humanity in an inhumane world. I cried a little bit. A bit like a very dark version of grapes of wrath.
Analysis and critiques the more problematic aspects of mainstream/white middle class feminism like e.g. reliance on punishing state, strife for power inside generally oppressive system and exclusionary elements. The book tries to incentivise self reflection. The book is relatively compact and easy to follow. Some repetition when looking at things from different angels. I liked.
The author states that the book is for white feminists by a white feminist. Probably not much news in there for BIPoC feminists.
Balli Kaur Jaswal: Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows (2017, HarperCollins Publishers Limited)
After her father's death, Nikki, who has spent most of her life distancing herself from the traditional Sikh community, takes …

Short stories taking place during his time as a screenwriter in Mumbai in the 40s. Much less violent than his stuff about the partition of India. Mainly about prostitutes and alcohol. Sometimes surprisingly beautiful and progressive.
Very dark, I liked it. However, hilarious? What is wrong with journalists and book cover designers? Be aware of the trigger warnings.
I liked how the book links the topic with other struggles against oppression.
Pretty traumatizing, but important to know. Be warned, the lefttube videos you watched in 2017 on this topic only scratched the surface of the vile stuff. Has extensive examples and research. She doesn't shy away from showing the really bad stuff. She basically follows the chain from the darkest places of the internet to "normal" people and shows how the ideas/misogyny spreads
'Work hard, get paid.' It's simple. Self-evident. But it's also a lie—at least for most of us. For young people …
Definiert und Beschreibt das Konzept Radikalisierter Konservatismus an den Beispielen Trump und Kurz und vergleicht die beiden.
Lots of food for thought and reflection.
I like how she shows how seemingly "easy" questions can be rather complex and in the end easy again.
Impressive bibliography - the source notes are nearly half the book
