I was surprised that, while the book was about science denial/acceptance, it was more focused on how the media abetted and hindered it than I expected. To be fair, I did not know that Mnookin was a journalist, nor was it an unpleasant or in any way negative surprise. And while the book focuses mostly on the vaccine/autism controversy, he also covers some interesting but lesser-known issues with science education and policy.
