The story is much less complex than I had remembered it – for example, I was sure Max won some contests with the wild things before they made him king – but still very enjoyable. Of course, it's the pictures that are important here: the story is rather thin (though it is psychologically driven), and the pedagogical value is questionable – sending a child to bed without supper and then secretly giving it to him anyway...
