Travel through time and space with Kolbert as she learns about the Earth's history and its current crisis. Kolbert does a fantastic job of mixing narrative and education, though she offers no solutions to our crisis. Ce la vie.

The Data Says Reach for the Stars
5 stars
A call to arms bolstered by data, Rutger lays down the case for UBI, less work, and open borders. Some of his arguments are convincing, some of them have me wanting for generalized data, but in any case I agree with his methods and motives.

Learn to Speak Your Partners Love Language
5 stars
Very useful advice for anyone who loves their partner, and yet finds themselves at odds for reasons they can't understand. Sure, it could be something other than miscommunication, but you might be wholly compatible without realizing it. If the spark has died out and you don't know why, this book could save your relationship.

Redefine Stupid to Understand People
5 stars
An essay on the nature of humans and their interactions. With a formal definition of stupid, intelligent, helpless, and "bandit," we can begin to understand people and how they act. Loads of humor, but much too short; needs seven sequels.

Calm Cool Collected Clarke
5 stars
Clarke has a weird way of making adventure simultaneously enthralling and even-keeled. It's his quiet combination of scientific passion and scientific dispassion which keeps the reader going, always wanting to learn more. Highly recommend.

You'll Want to Brew It All!
5 stars
Two parts history, two parts botany, one part cocktail recipes, one part garden tips, one part reference material. Layer together in regular repeating fashion, allow for narrative and reference material to blend. Results should inspire.
