Tamsyn Muir: Gideon the Ninth (Hardcover, 2019, Tordotcom) 4 stars

Tamsyn Muir’s Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian …

An incredibly fun romp reminiscent of Gormenghast and Warhammer, with so much added snark and humour. I seem to be in the minority for not feeling lost in the slightest, even though I listened to the first half in bed at night (before it became clear I absolutely NEEDED to know what happened next and started listening to it at work too) and thus kept dozing off and had to keep rewinding when I woke up again.

Moira Quirk's narration was incredible, and it was an absolute delight to hear Welsh and Yorkshire accents in an audiobook.

And now I need to go and buy the next book.

TBR list? What's that?
