I read in transitional spaces - ok let's be less pretentious: I mostly read on the go, when I can. Mainly sci-fi, fantasy and non-Ficition about medicine or finance.

What does it tell you about a book when you start out with post-its, move to pencil notes and end it with using a pen. The longer it went the more I felt like I was reading an action movie plot with all its weaknesses. The question I asked most often was why? Why does the main character do that/think that and so on. I really liked the premise and the writing style was ok to good, but this book just wasn't for me.

I listened to this book and it was a great experience. The language is easy enough to understand while doing other things, but still everything is explained well enough, with enough dept, to understand why and how science works. I certainly want to get this book as a paperback to lend it to people.
It's a great guide to assess supposed treatments oneself and goes into detail about the most common alternative medicine ideas.
I'd recommend it to anyone interested in alternative medicine, be it from an embracing or a skeptical point of view.

Tolle Geometrien. Nur die Wiedererkennung der Gesichter fehlte etwas.

Lee Carroll: The watchtower (2011, Tor) 3 stars

Not as good as the first book of the series and I think some illustrations would do this book a ton of good. Maybe this would even be a great comic book or TV series with a lot of beautiful scenery to marvel at.
The background and history is woven into the story beautifully in my opinion, the authors toying with myths of the past and bringing them alive. But the character of Gareth somehow got lost in the chase for love. I liked the parallel telling of Will and Gareths paths, but still there was something missing to draw me into the story.

Jon Ronson: Them : adventures with extremists (2011) 4 stars

Entertaining and thoughtprovoking. Also reminds you of the fact that most enigmatic and mystical things are just as boring, shallow and potentially dangerous, as you never hoped they are. People just seem to search a meaning for their tedious unconsequential lives, spice it up with conspirancies, to give reasons to the seemingly random things that happen to them. And the easiest way is to have tangible culprits. Other people. Them!

Very amusing and written with a lot of selfdepricating humor/didn't take herself to seriously. She wrote very witty and her heart and character shine through.
If you struggle with addiction/bi-polar disorder or something similar and have a somewhat cynical humor, this might be for you. It's a short and entertaining read.
