Peter Fehervari: Fire Caste (Paperback, 2013, Games Workshop)

In the jungles of the Dolorosa Coil, a coalition of alien tau and human deserters …

Creepy in the good way

My first read by Fehervari and I'm pleasantly surprised. This book was well written and filled with creepy and very grim dark stuff. It's definitely a universe that no one would want to live in.

Strong memorable characters. I love the title of the book.

Orson Scott Card: Ender's Game (2013, Orbit)

Now a major motion picture, Ender's Game is one of the most popular and critically …

Un livre de garçon

Alors, ce un livre sur Andrew Wiggins, aka Ender Wiggins, et c'est bon. Je pense premier, non, c'est un livre mal, mais c'est bon.

My French fucking sucks. It's a great book and it surprised me. Well worth reading.

reviewed The End and the Death by Dan Abnett (The Siege of Terra, #8)

Dan Abnett: The End and the Death (2023, Games Workshop, Limited)

The walls have fallen, the gates are breached, and the defenders are slain. It is …

Review of 'The End and the Death' on 'Goodreads'

This book was so good I read it EXTRA slowly just because I didn't want it to end.

There were some things that annoyed me, but ultimately, I'm so happy that Dan Abnett is the one writing the finale.

There's just so much shit to like about it and I'm so excited for the second volume.

Damn it all.

reviewed Echoes of Eternity by Aaron Dembski-Bowden (The Siege of Terra, #7)

Aaron Dembski-Bowden: Echoes of Eternity (2022, Games Workshop, Limited)

The walls have fallen. The defenders’ unity is broken. The Inner Palace lies in ruins. …

Review of 'Echoes of Eternity' on 'Goodreads'

There is something lacking in this book, which I'm quite sad to say since it's just absolutely thrilling.

I loved the way it covered SO much and in such depth without necessarily being tedious.

I'm looking forward to the ending. To be honest, I can't believe we're finally getting there.

reviewed Mortis by John French (The Siege of Terra, #5)

John French: Mortis (Hardcover, 2021, Games Workshop)

The victories of Saturnine and the sacrifices of the Eternity Wall spaceport have faded into …

Review of 'Mortis' on 'Goodreads'

Good shit, but the titan stuff didn't really jive with me. Really liked the parts with Perturabo.

reviewed Warhawk by Chris Wraight (The Siege of Terra, #6)

Chris Wraight: Warhawk (2021, Games Workshop, Limited)

Review of 'Warhawk' on 'Goodreads'

Another fantastic banger from Chris Wraight about the White Scars. I'm glad he got a chance to write a book in the SoT series and he did it wonderfully.

There's a lot of juicy shit in this one. I'm also quite impressed with how well he writes the Death Guard post-transformation.

Nothing to haggle about, just go read it.

reviewed The First Wall by Gav Thorpe (The Siege of Terra, #3)

Gav Thorpe: The First Wall (Hardcover, 2020, Games Workshop)

The war for the fate of mankind blazes on. Though the outer defences have fallen, …

Review of 'The First Wall' on 'Goodreads'

It's nice to read about Abbadon, Dorn, Sigismund, Amon and all these guys, only part that really sucks is the guard story about Zenobi. What a total drag, so much that I decided to skip it.

Thorpe is an okay writer, I guess. It's decent.

reviewed The Lost and the Damned by Guy Haley (The Siege of Terra, #2)

Guy Haley: The Lost and the Damned (Hardcover, 2019, Games Workshop)

On the thirteenth day of Secundus, the bombardment of Terra began... With the solar defences …

Review of 'The Lost and the Damned' on 'Goodreads'

It's a decent book with a lot of exciting parts, and well written for that matter, and it was quite a nice read even though it took me ages.

The siege is on!

reviewed The Solar War by John French (The Siege of Terra, #1)

John French: The Solar War (2019, Games Workshop, Limited)

After seven years of bitter war, the end has come at last for the conflict …

Review of 'The Solar War' on 'Goodreads'

It's a decent enough book, I like French, but there's something missing the really makes it pop.

The subplot with Mersadie Oliton was great.
