Ronald Malfi: Come With Me (Paperback, 2021, Titan Books) 4 stars

I was worried this was just a thriller

4 stars

Man's wife dies in mass shooting, man finds her hidden notes on possible serial killer, man continues wife's secret work.

I was worried that this was going to be a dry "who da serial killer!?" but there were enough extras to keep me happy. It's paranormal-ish, urban legend-ish and grief horror in just the right amounts.

Be sure to stay for the afterward by the author, it's a real gut punch and sent me down a rabbit hole to learn about an amazing woman.

Adrian Tchaikovsky: Bear Head (2021, Head of Zeus) 4 stars

WELCOME TO HELL CITY, MARS

Jimmy Martin has a sore head.

He's used to smuggling …

Finally, fascism in space!

For the first two thirds of the book I thought it was going to be a run of the mill techno thriller but then it really took off.

Sci fi often uses technology as a great equalizer and ignores that fascists would use tech just as much as leftists.

Bear Head dives right into this and the horrors it would unleash. If you like Tchaikovsky's other work or like Blake Crouch you should really check this out.
