Where is the Ball?? Where is the madness?? We got like, 5 pages of each in the book.
It felt like Spiritist propaganda, but in a way that I do not think was intended by the author. Since I'm from a country where that's a proper religion, the whole "book of spirits/Alan Kardec" thing just gave me "Nosso Lar/Chico Xavier" vibes and I was NOT here for it.
It could have been interesting if the ghost thing was left a bit more ambiguous, like if you didn't know if it was actually real or not.
All of the characters are one dimensional and the plotline is tremendously predictable.
I only finished because it was a recommendation from a friend and it was short.
