Seveneves has my favorite opening line: "The moon blew up with no warning and for no apparent reason."

I really enjoyed the first 2/3 of this book. The science is good, the characters are (mostly) believable. Strong female leads are always nice to see, especially in sci-fi. The last third is a completely different novel, with different characters in a much different time - and almost reads like a different author. Even though the last third was a bit of a slog at first, I liked how it ended, and overall I really enjoyed this book.
