Okay, this one wasn't quite as engaging as the previous books. It's basically a murder mystery, with less of the hacking and subterfuge that were hallmarks of the other Murderbot stories. It does provide interesting context for Preservation people starting to accept Murderbot more; it's just not as interesting a story as the others.

The opinion I've generally seen online is that the Murderbot novellas are better than the novels. But I thought this novel was just as interesting as the novellas. The new story elements and plot developments kept the book interesting all the way through. I'll see if that holds up for the next two books, but this one was fine, at least.
