I listened to this one. I'd walk my dog and put this on and be transported almost exactly like those Audible commercials. Some characterizations felt a bit stiff here and there but a thoroughly enjoyable book. It's the first time I've ever empathized with smart spiders.

N. K. Jemisin: The Broken Earth Trilogy: The Fifth Season, The Obelisk Gate, The Stone Sky (2018, Orbit)

Review of 'The Broken Earth Trilogy: The Fifth Season, The Obelisk Gate, The Stone Sky' on 'Goodreads'

The series ends strong. Entertaining, suspenseful, brutal, wondrous, thought-provoking, and with fantastic characters. I'm definitely a fan and will read many more Jemisin books and series.

I look forward to them returning to this series as I hear they're on hiatus now. These characters are brilliant.

Half of these essays are about stuff I mostly don't care about, like Fallout Boy, My Chemical Romance, etc., but that doesn't mean i didn't like this book. I really did. I don't think I've ever heard some of these bands. The heart warming turns of language and great observations of modern culture kept me going.

I found myself laughing aloud more often than I thought I would for a book about cars. The histories of the automotive industry, drivers, laws, and the concerns of the day were fun. Albert speeds us along that interstate with ease. The future of cars is wrapped up nicely in the Kids Today chapter -- with the dwindling "pure experience of driving" and the looming most luxurious car: the "car they'll neither own nor drive."
