This is the second time through for me, and I enjoyed it even more than last time. I have always loved Iris Wildthyme and her part in this story is beautiful. I really like the fact that her and Sam get along well.

The story is very good and even though it could have become a much longer story, it does not feel chopped up or incomplete. There are a couple of places where I think it could have branched off into an entirely different storyline, but that may be for another day.

A great book and I'll definitely reread sometime in the future.

Bloody Orkney is set in Scotland during WWII. It follows a team of Military Intelligence agents who investigate the death of a pilot, which turns into a much larger mystery.

I really enjoy historical fiction, but this is the first I've read that was set during WWII, and now I'm hooked. I see the locations and aircraft as having their own personalities here, which is really nice. I spent a significant amount of time plotting the locations and looking up the different aircraft, which is quite exciting for me and really made the book very enjoyable.

The story and plot development were not fast-paced, but this is not an action-adventure, so that was not expected. It does progress at a steady pace, though, and I never got bored or wanted to take a break from the book. The characters are well-developed, and I really had no trouble becoming invested in …

This story is when I realized just how great Sam was going to be as a Companion.

I really like the history of the Vampires and it plays well with a couple of Big Finish stories, so that made my second and third reads interesting because I'd listened to those stories in between.
