Bloody Orkney is set in Scotland during WWII. It follows a team of Military Intelligence agents who investigate the death of a pilot, which turns into a much larger mystery.

I really enjoy historical fiction, but this is the first I've read that was set during WWII, and now I'm hooked. I see the locations and aircraft as having their own personalities here, which is really nice. I spent a significant amount of time plotting the locations and looking up the different aircraft, which is quite exciting for me and really made the book very enjoyable.

The story and plot development were not fast-paced, but this is not an action-adventure, so that was not expected. It does progress at a steady pace, though, and I never got bored or wanted to take a break from the book. The characters are well-developed, and I really had no trouble becoming invested in them and their stories.

Now on to some of Mr. Lussey's other books.
