I finally finished this last night in one sitting, and I did skim quite a bit. Compared to other X-Men series I have read, this one did not impress me much. Much of the story just boiled down to throwing mutants at Cameron Hodge, they would get caught, throw another bunch, rinse and repeat. While the story premise was ok (island rogue nation that enslaves mutants), the story just dragged on and on and on. That the art is pretty cluttered on the page as well did not help matters much neither. I am certainly not giving up on X-Men. I like their series overall, but I am not recommending this one.
