I had very high expectations for this and they were absolutely blown out of the water. The narration was fantastic, the world building and character development is so sharp. I absolutely would love more of these characters and world, but also, they deserve some damn peace.

This is one of those rare instances where I think the movie is actually better. While the book is beautiful, it doesn't have quite the same satisfying arc as the film, and some parts don't seem to be relevant to the plot at all. I would have preferred more from Basil's perspective, tbh.

I'm a late-comer to the Classic Vampire Canon, having only watched Lugosi's Dracula in the last couple of years. I was absolutely blown away by how magnetic he was on screen, and bummed to learn that his life was so hard.

Huh. I don't think I fully understood this book. It seems to be about cycles and abuse, but also maybe mental health? And how, no matter how hard we try we seem to follow in our parents' footsteps? Idk man, but it was pretty?

While the plot is... unstable and unclear, it's just interesting enough to keep you reading. The characters are all quite likeable, especially Kippa. And the artwork is simply stunning. I'm not sure where the story is going, but I'm looking forward to subsequent installments.
