Roger Zelazny: This Immortal (Paperback, 1989, Baen)

Après une explosion atomique, la plupart des terriens survivants sont partis s'installer sur les planètes …

Early, crystalline, and vintage Zelazny, from 1966, with Wolfean language and a vocabulary that seems to have influenced me some many years ago (‘momently’ for ‘momentarily’ is but one example; ’way back in the 6th form (or it might have been the 5th), I got pulled up for using ‘and etcetera’ instead of just ‘etcetera’, because Zelazny used ‘and etcetera’ in "The Doors of His Face, the Lamps of His Mouth"). Conrad Nomikos is the Trickster, as is the protagonist of many Zelazny stories. Immortality sits him at a price, which has mythic resonances.
