This book is a real gem.
I heard about this book during the 2010 Hugo awards.

Like Dune This Immortal has withstood the test of time.
Since it is set in a post apocalyptic earth, much of the technological anachronisms can be explained away and they don't stand out like a sore thumb.
Zelazny's style of mixing technology and mythology is very well done here and I enjoyed this book better than some of his other books.

Early, crystalline, and vintage Zelazny, from 1966, with Wolfean language and a vocabulary that seems to have influenced me some many years ago (‘momently’ for ‘momentarily’ is but one example; ’way back in the 6th form (or it might have been the 5th), I got pulled up for using ‘and etcetera’ instead of just ‘etcetera’, because Zelazny used ‘and etcetera’ in "The Doors of His Face, the Lamps of His Mouth"). Conrad Nomikos is the Trickster, as is the protagonist of many Zelazny stories. Immortality sits him at a price, which has mythic resonances.
