This is a remarkable exposé that reads like a thriller. It only took me so long to read it because of my own experiences with sexual assault and gaslighting. My single frustration with the material was that with such a stultifying long list of characters it was challenging for me to keep track of who was doing what. But in the end, that didn't matter overmuch.

This book should be required reading for all white Americans trying to educate ourselves about systemic racism. It is not an easy read, nor should it be.

This is a well-constructed fiction from the #MeToo movement, and it reads like one. It didn't land enough emotionally to disturb, and didn't take enough risks to inform.

This is a quick, creepy read that plays with form and language a bit to build tension. I enjoyed that part but thought it could have done more. Still, this was a fun dip into scary-story season!
