Fascinating to read a scientist who was too far ahead of his time to make the arguments he was obviously reaching towards. He was on the right path to the idea of an ancient, dynamic earth, but the scientific context just wasn't there yet for him to put together a solid argument.

One of those times a crazy-looking sci-fi paperback cover is actually true to the story. The main characters float past a bunch of huge ruined statues sticking out of the water, left behind by an long-gone advanced civilization. (Ahhhh... but are they REALLY gone?)
