Apparently there are 33 books (movies, TV, etc.) in the Hercule Poirot series. Mike specifically recommended #3, but multiple people said they're all good so maybe I'll start with #1?

deafferret finished reading The Dark Forest by Cixin Liu (Three-Body Trilogy, #2)
Read this so I didn't spoiler myself in Season 1 of the Netflix show. Having finished book 2 I decided I wasn't going to read book 3. The ratio of human angst / sci-fi concepts is too low for me for such long books. The Netflix show Season 1 changes a few things and grabbed concepts from all 3 books faster. Season 2 will be book 3 presumably, and I'm fine with that. I could do a long blog post if anyone's interested, so far I just talked with my brother about it for 90m or so.
It's fine for reading if you're OK with lots of artistic / poetic exploration and repeating themes. The Netflix show cuts a lot of that out to get to the sci-fi plot faster.
