"Quicksand" by Junichiro Tanizaki is a book that left me with mixed feelings. While I found the writing simplistic and the story somewhat naive, I couldn't help but be drawn into the captivating exploration of desire and obsession. Despite its flaws, the book's thought-provoking themes and masterful storytelling kept me engaged until the end.

The Spring snow is absolutely amazing. It’s so refreshing. I feel ashamed it took me so long to finish it. The novel is very rich, full of unexpected turns. I feel like it’s multiple novels inside of one—not so gently switching from one point of focus to another. I don’t think that calling it “Japanese Romeo and Juliet” gives it justice. It’s way more complex. I enjoyed every chapter of it. I sympathize with both Kiyoaki and Satoko—sometimes love is not obvious. It takes time to realize what one’s feel. It’s like a ballet. And master Mishima invites us to observe this tragic dance.
