been a while since i've said something. mainly because progress is slow on my side. the book itself is paced much better than the first so far. also this iteration of the monster makes it more of an intrigue than the first one, which was literally just the plague.
there is some nice commentary about vaccine availability as well which feels like it was directly inspired by... well, the world.
also yay for some actual queer representation! it was hinted at in the first book but it's definitely more textual here, and it's quite beautiful. if this was a tvtropes page i'd add "bury your gays: played with" to the article.
