David Day: The Hobbits of Tolkien (2019, Pyramid)

Review of 'The Hobbits of Tolkien' on 'Goodreads'

"He slept curled up on the hard rock more soundly than ever he had done on his feather-bed in his own little hole at home."

While adventures might not be all-fun, no-adventures is what's not fun at all. It's easy to sit in a cozy room & have nice little breakfast, sleep, and wake again. Such was the life of Bilbo Baggins who never did anything unexpected. But one day he was set for an adventure, an unexpected adventure. He went on to learn more about the world outside & especially learned quite a few things himself. Bilbo skipped a lot of breakfast & sleep too but along the way, he made a lot of friends & received honors. An interesting classic tale with many great characters full of magical adventures.

Insightful & honest.

An account of a truly inspiring part of the author's life.

Personally, for a person like me who has been questioning about my thoughts & my mental state time & again, this book definitely gives insights on the core topics, the ideas. Whilst everyone has a different story there are similarities. Quite a unique was of telling a story. Learned as much as I enjoyed it. Timeless in many ways.

Probably one of the best quotes from the book:

I can’t come up with reassuring answers to the terrible questions they raise.

A comical Sc-Fi adventure like I never experienced before! Liked the various characters in the story and while reading the story, the different scenes vividly came to life. Never knew where the story was going, at any point. Probably its the Universe & "how, why & where would I know ?" (42) ;)

"There is no confusion like the confusion of a simple mind."

I really enjoyed reading the book and as I progressed more into the story. The plot was more interesting as it came to the end, but having said that I think the ending wasn't perfect & it's quite obvious that most endings aren't supposed to be. The most engaging part of the story was the character development of Jay Gatsby, hence "The Great Gatsby".

A really well written story with some great characters and nice turn of events.
Frames a lots of aspects (about friendship, loyalty, love & more) in a single well developed story.
Well worth a reading.
