This book is horribly written. Like HORRIBLY. The descriptive prose is often laughable, the dialogue is stiff and hackneyed, and considering it was written by a mother/daughter team with the daughter being in her 20s you would think their combined knowledge would let them be able to write something remotely approximating a believable teenage girl. But if you thought that, you would be wrong. Their formula for writing teenagers seems to be an abundance of forced pop culture references and excessive use of the word "cool" which work together to make this three-year-old book sound hopelessly dated. Then, general technical awfulness aside, this book grossly appropriates, exoticizes, and misrepresents Native American culture. And that's not even getting into the amount of slut-shaming, body snarking, and general misogyny they managed to get into the first six chapters alone.

Cringeworthy on every level.
