Review of "The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" on 'Goodreads'
3 stars
I now get the jokes and understand the references, but to get there I had to go through a long journey. Hitchicker's Guide to the Galaxy was an enjoyable book but I found most of the stories to be incoherent, written by a imaginative author with extreme ADHD and hey, why is my hair on fire? The beauty of the books may be that you do go all over the Galaxy, but it made it challenging to follow along as you go from one time travelling couch to a floating party boat to another dimension and never really knowing what was going on.
There were many times I was reading and wasn't sure if I was actually reading because I didn't comprehend what was going on. If this happened I would back up, retrace my steps and still have no idea what was happening. I was a bit like Arthur in that I just got used to not understanding and was going along for the ride.
I am glad to mark this one off my list but I don't think I will be grabbing my trusty towel, book written with the words "Don't Panic" and experience this adventure again.
