Thoroughly enjoyable series. Intriguing from the start and my interest kept building throughout all 5 books. Lovely development of characters over time - with tantalisingly little detail to grasp at first but enough to keep you seeking more. Conversely, I also like how some things were not explained or left unresolved. Also liked the vague hint of a steampunk bias towards old technology and engineering, rather than the usual hi-tech content of much SF/some PA works. Will certainly read the Shift books after tackling some other books on my 'to read' list. Thanks, Hugh for a great read.
