Jordan Peterson: 12 Rules for Life (2018, Random House Canada)

None

This was one of the books where I really had to fight with myself to read it until the end. The 12 rules look a bit weird, but the biggest problem I had was the length of the chapters. Peterson has one rule like "be precise with your speech" and I want to add "and come to the point before your audience is dying from boredom". Really, if this author would do an elevator pitch he'd better go in a skyscraper. Yes, on the plus side he has some points to make, but they are lost in the long explanations of every rule. Maybe philosophers have to exaggerate like that, but I was really a lot of times close to the moment where I wanted to say "enough of it". Another issue for non religious people could be the big amount of references and quotes from the bible, this might scare away people.
