Now this was a gem. Strong contender for awards. Hopeful, heartbreaking but not in an dystopian way, instead with warmth and some comic relief sprinkled in. The setting works well, and the characters are engaging and has some depth to them, but still keeps a light touch on characterization. Among the better from T. Kingfisher in my estimation.
