Review of 'Ogre Enchanted (Ella Enchanted, #0.5)' on 'Goodreads'

It felt so good to return to Kyrria, a place where I spent much of my childhood. Gail Carson Levine brings all the most delightful elements of Enchanted--a smart, no-nonsense heroine; a fast-moving plot rife with twists, magical creatures with their own special flair--to the story of Evie, a healer who is turned into an ogre by Lucinda the fairy (who is a public menace, frankly, and should be stopped) and has to accept a marriage proposal within sixty-two days if she wants to turn back. Like Ella, Evie refuses to accept her fate without a fight and embarks on a quest to break the spell. Along the way, she has a host of adventures and meets a colorful cast of characters--some of whom connect to Ella Enchanted in unexpected ways. I gasped in delight when I realized the connection between this book and the original. Such a great fairy tale riff for lovers of Ella Enchanted or any fairy tale/fantasy fan. Gail Carson Levine owns my soul, and I have no regrets.
