The inner game of tennis (1997) 4 stars

Review of 'The inner game of tennis' on 'Goodreads'

3 stars

The author divides your self in two. A self that reasons and (over)thinks. And a self that just does. The inner game is to let that second self do its thing, and letting the first self get out of the way. Useful in tennis and likely in other physical activities (like making music).

It made me think of Yoda (do, or do not - there is no try).

It's a small book and I think I'll need to read it again.

Urban fantasy. Was able to keep me interested to the last page. The first few pages took a little stamina, though.

I might've missed it, but I didn't see spelled out who sent the two demons. My guess it's Francis
- he had a reason to kill both Rachel and Trent
- he got killed himself - maybe by the demon that was initially set on Rachel (and not by Trent as Rachel and the FIB assume?)

The other option would be Jonathan, Trent's aide - as he hates Rachel and should have reasons to hate Trent as well.

Review of 'Sapiens A Brief History of Humankind' on 'Goodreads'

5 stars

An interesting overview of the history of mankind. Learned a lot of surprising facts (i.e. the impact of humans (or actually "homo sapiens") on its environment is stupendous: the total wipeout of large marsupials in Australia total landscape changes, the wipeout of all other non-sapiens humans. The "bad deal" of the agricultural revolution. The role of stories to believe in in the development of sapiens (including, but not limited to religions), etc.etc). It's so much I'm afraid I'm going to forget a lot of them.

Has an impact on the way I view the world right now - hence 5 stars.

Extremely short book compared to Rand's other works. A pamphlet for freedom and individualism over community and equality. In Sapiens the writer describes this as.the central conflict of our times - and he.is probably not wrong.

Even when her vision might not appeal to everyone, she has put it down in words clearly and poetically.
